The Starting Line school is designed for folks who are just starting out in autocross or looking for a great way to improve their performance driving skills. We use professional instructors, trained and certified by the Evolution Performance Driving School and put you in the seat for a season’s worth of seat time in just one day.
The school starts with a pair of modules, one is slalom focused and the other is a skid-oval. On the slalom, students get an opportunity to sharpen transition skills and develop a method of attack that can be applied to all transitional elements. While on the skid oval, students will learn about the approach and exit of a corner, mid corner weight transfer and spotting your exits. These skills learned in the morning are the foundation of all performance driving as they are rooted in understanding and feeling grip and weight transfer and linking your vision to your driving.
During lunch we take a little break from cars to talk about the lessons of the morning and get set up for the afternoon. We also take some time to work on course walk strategies and techniques. From there we put it all together with an instructed session on a full course, normally totaling 9-10 runs. After that it is time for some fun as students get 3 more runs in the car by themselves to see how fast you can go.
There are three packages available for the Starting Line. All three include an SCCA membership (for non-members) or membership renewal (for members), entry into a kyscca event (stick around for the kyscca autocross the following day), an entry into an SCCA National Event (never expires), a Grassroots Motorsports Subscription, lunch and a hat. The standard package is $325. To that you can add an open Helmet for a total of $425 or a Full Helmet for a total of $525.
